Festival History

In 1989 The Kinship Coalition of Detroit area adoption agencies began hosting an annual adoption festival with the goal of educating and recruiting adoptive families for children in foster care. The concept of the festival is to provide a fun and informal atmosphere where waiting children and prospective adoptive families can interact. The hope was that if people could have personal contact with a child, they would be more likely to express an interest in adopting. Agency representatives are present to answer questions the families may have about the adoption process. The Kinship Annual Adoption Festival has become our largest and most successful recruitment event.
